Homeopathy has emerged as a complementary alternative to conventional medicine, which increasingly generates more trust among the population. According to the latest data provided by the European Commission, currently 100 million Europeans use it and in recent years, its use has increased by almost 4 percent and, within this growth, there is a clear increase in infants and children.

This is because many parents perceive this medicine as safe, harmless and without toxic effects. It can be administered to newborn babies, after medical consultation.

Homeopathy is a system of alternative medicine, which uses remedies lacking chemically active ingredients, in minimal doses. Its substances produce effects similar to the symptoms of the disease, which it is desired to combat, and thus the metabolic response is activated. Homeopathy is one of the most popular and widely accepted so-called 'alternative medicines'. Along with acupuncture, it is the most popular practice. Good medical care begins at home.

Today, due to the side effects of conventional medications, especially when administered to babies or young children, many parents are turning to homeopathic medications to treat acute or chronic pediatric problems, such as allergies, diarrhea, and even conduct disorders.

Although homeopathic medicines have good results in children, before starting to use them, it is advisable to consult a specialist doctor, especially to evaluate the child's clinical picture. Medical consultation is very necessary.

Consultation with a homeopathic doctor usually includes an extensive interview and an evaluation of the child's symptoms. Past health problems, family medical history, sleep patterns, food preferences, temperament, and behavioral patterns will be noted by the physician. From these data, the homeopath makes a profile of the patient, and determines the treatment.

Homeopathy treatments are effective not only in acute conditions, but also in recurring illnesses that recur frequently in children. Homeopathic medication works very well in the treatment of colic, flu, conjunctivitis, asthma, eczema, allergies, etc.

In the market, we can find two types of remedies: simple homeopathic medicines and those with more complex formulass. For the most common ailments, D6, D12 or D30 is usually used, while for more complex ailments the guidance of a medical professional is recommended, since complex formulas are combinations of homeopathic medicines aimed at specific pathologies. These formulas are easy to use and have no side effects.

The use of homeopathic medicine requires a good knowledge of medical science and the patient's picture for its correct application. Parents should never self-medicate babies and children. It is common for some parents to consult friends and family, who have children who have already used homeopathy, to cure what their child has.

Each child is a different reality and has to be evaluated differently. You cannot use the same homeopathic medication from one child to another. That practice should be avoided. Misguided medication can be ineffective and harmful to children.

In infants and children under 2 years of age, it is advisable to use homeopathy in globules to suck them or take them dissolved in water or milk, in the bottle. Homeopathic drops are more suitable for children over 2 years of age, and are dissolved in water, milk or juice, due to their 45º alcohol content.

In an acute condition, the action of the homeopathic medicine is rapid. In case the child does not show improvement in the first 24 or 48 hours, medical help should be sought. In chronic conditions, homeopathy can be used for long periods, since it lacks contraindications and toxic side effects.
